Parking

Council provides and maintains a number of off-street car parks throughout Parkes. With changes proposed to the main street there is a perceived need for additional parking to be provided to relieve the pressures on the CBD. Public car parks are located in Church Street (adjacent to McGees and Jansens Lanes), Welcome Street on either side of the Post Office, the corner of Bogan and Dalton Streets (adjacent to the Little Theatre), Currajong Street (opposite the RTA and adjacent to the Anglican Church). Car parking is also available on private land associated with Kmart/BiLo, Big W, Woolworths, St Vincent de Paul, IGA Supermarket, Target, and a number of smaller businesses.

Property Ownership and Responsibilities
The car parking areas are located on Council owned land. Council has the responsibility to ensure that adequate off-street car parking is available to meet demands.

Finance
Finance for the car parking is provided mostly from Council's own funds. Some income is generated from Section 94 Contributions from developments.

Workforce
There are no staff designated solely for car parks. General or Parks and Gardens staff carry out maintenance works as required.

Plant
There is no plant designated solely to car parks. Council utilises equipment and plant from the general plant pool when required.
