When am I required to lodge a Development Application?

Development Applications (DAs) are generally required for use of land or a building, subdivision, erection of a building, carrying out of work and demolition.

Some very minor types of development called Exempt Development do not require development consent.

Before you make any changes to a building, build a structure, or occupy premises you need to check whether the proposal is permissible and whether it is "development" that requires an application. You can obtain this advice from Council's Planning and Environment Section, on 02 6861 2373. Our Planning staff are available to duscuss planning issues with you, particularly if you have a large project or a development that will require significant changes to the built and/or natural environment.
