Water

Parkes Shire Council is responsible for he Parkes/Peak Hill Water Supply System, which supplies the towns of Parkes and Peak Hill, as well as the villages of Alectown and Cookamidgera.

In addition, Council also manages the water supply to the villages of Bogan Gate, Trundle, Tullamore and rural consumers in between. This system is known as the 'B' section pipeline, which carries water from Forbes.

Water 'Hardness' - Published: 19 Sep 2006
Water hardness refers to the presence in water of calcium and magnesium, the origin of which is related to geological characteristics at the water’s source. Hard water, containing elevated levels of calcium and magnesium, causes difficulty in creating a soapy lather and forms crusty deposits (scale) in kettles, electric irons and washing machines. If the scale collects on heating elements it shortens their life and makes appliances less efficient. more ..
