Discover the magic of Parkes Shire

Where Elvis and the Universe collide

There are many enticing and exciting reasons to visit Parkes Shire. With its astronomical link through the world famous CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope, 'the Dish', and the annual Elvis Festival seeing 20,000 people shake, rattle and roll their way here to celebrate the King, Parkes has become a popular destination for people touring regional Australia.

I invite you to take in all that is on offer across our Shire, with plenty to keep the whole family entertained at this time of year. The Central West Comic Fest, Trundle Abba Festival, Astrofest and Tullamore Irish Festival are sure to attract many visitors and see many repeat visitors returning year after year to enjoy the fun and excitement of these festivals. There is also the 200th Birthday celebration of Sir Henry Parkes, Parkes' namesake.

You can explore the hidden secrets that the towns of Parkes, Peak Hill, Bogan Gate, Trundle and Tullamore have to offer, enjoy the natural beauty of our landscapes and National Parks and the warm and inviting nature of our residents.

On behalf of the people of Parkes Shire I welcome you to our region and wish you a safe, adventurous and enjoyable visit.
